A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 “25th Anniversary”

On October the 24th 1994 A. Lange & Söhne presented their first new-era watches, which included the now famous LANGE 1. A non-traditional dial layout raised many discussions, but due to its mechanical ingenuity and complexity was enthusiastically received. The watch hasn’t changed since the release in 1994. The asymmetrical design was greatly reviewed by watch enthusiasts, experts and collectors. This made the asymmetrical and patented design an instant classic. the design which followed the golden rule ratio for a harmonious design. Its movement is what reflects the technical evolution of the Lange 1. The manually wound calibre L121.1 (introduced in 2015) includes a precisely jumping outsize date display and a freely oscillating balance spring.

LANGE 1 calibre L901.0 – features a twin mainspring barrel with a power reserve of 72 hours. As well as a balance cock made of untreated German silver, eight screwed gold chatons, and the hand-engraved balance cock.

Now A. Lange & Söhne marks the “birth” of the LANGE 1 with the 25th Anniversary series. The watch is executed in a white gold case, with a blue alligator strap. Combined with complimentary blued hands and numerals including the date disks. Also unique to the 25th-anniversary edition: the segments of the dial have been gently recessed and finished with a darker, frosted finish, highlighting the asymmetry of the dial.

On the movement, it exhibits a very special engraving on the movement. It features an hand-engraved balance cock which states “25” in the style of Lange’s date display, with the lines of the engraving filled in dark blue lacquer. The balance cock itself is German silver, as is standard.

The Lange 1 “25th Anniversary” (ref. 191.066) is a limited edition of 250 pieces. It will be available at boutiques and authorised retailers later this year.
